About the Tall Oregon Grape
Highly valued as an ornamental as well as in naturalized settings. Glossy, holly-like leaves have bronzy copper color new growth which turns green by summer. Clusters of small yellow flowers in spring set purple fruit favored by birds or suitable for jellies. Height is typically up to 5 ft. in gardens, but can reach 8-10 ft. in the wild. Can be pruned to control size. Does well in both sun and shade on well drained soils.
