A large mighty deciduous Oak native to California; possibly the largest North American oak. Limbs are often picturesquely twisted; long drooping branches sometimes sweep to the ground. It tolerates high heat. A magnificent tree for shading big outdoor living spaces and parklands, however it can be messy, dropping acorns and other debris. During autumn, the leaves turn a yellow to light orange color but become brown later in the season.
