About the Bay Laurel
California Bay Laurel is a gumdrop-shaped shrub that is often used as a hedge, but left alone, it will ultimately grow to tree size. It is found near the Oregon Coast and in California. The leaves are extremely aromatic and can be used (in moderation) as a cooking herb. Myrtlewood is very hard and fine, and is often made into backs of guitars, bowls, spoons, and other small items.
